Motor and vacuum not starting (March , 2009, ) |
quote |
Hi. I have replaced the mercury relay and made sure both the one on the door and mounted to the case are aligned correctly, as the troubleshooting guide instructs. The motor and vacuum will occasionally work correctly, if I switch the machine off and back on. Not every time, just once every 4 or 5 tries. Any other possibilities? The depth and radius are homing correctly, I find no loose or damaged wires anywhere, although it seems like a short to me. The radius and depth both move when the cycle is started, just not the motor and vacuum. But, the vacuum tries to start for about half a second. Thanks Dave Eyemart 18 Sand Springs, OK

Dave,
Try running the unit without the vacuum, and see if the cutter motor will run that way, and complete a cycle, if it will, it's probably a bad vacuum motor pulling current away from the cutter motor. In this case, the vacuum motor would need to be replaced.
