What are the advantages
of using dry-cut products over traditional wet systems?
Dry systems do not require
water lines and eliminate the hassles of special disposal
procedures. Discrepancies in sizing due to wheel wear is also
eliminated, as typically evident with wet-cut systems.
What materials
does Optronics Equipment process?
Our equipment processes Polycarbonate, Hi-Index, CR-39 and
Trivex lenses with exceptional accuracy.
Can your patternless
edgers interface with other types of tracers or can your tracer
interface with other edgers?
The 7E Patternless Edging System and
2G Generator are OMA-compliant and
can interface serially to other equipment through software
that meets these standards. For equipment that does not meet
these standards, a gateway device can be used to achieve an
interface.
How does your
edger block?
The 7E can accommodate most types of
blocks used with the industry; geometric or optical center
blocking can be used. Our 3B finish blocker
is fully interfaceable to the 7E.
Will I need a
compressor?
The 7EA Patternless Edger, Horizon
II Edger,
and 2G Generator require
compressed air in order for the chuck system to operate.
Pneumatic or electric chucking is optional on the 7E
Patternless Edger.
Can the Horizon
II be converted to a patternless edger?
We do not offer or support this type of conversion as it does
not provide 3-axis edging.
Can the 2G Generator
cut laps?
Foam or plastic laps can be processed on the 2G.
Can the 2G be
used with wax or metal blocking systems?
The 2G contains software that accommodates
either blocking system.
What is OMA Protocol?
Members of the Optical Industry Association's Lens Processing
Technology Division agreed in 1994 to develop standards for
data communication between equipment and computer systems
in the ophthalmic laboratory. These members wrote a mission
statement and formed a task group of the most qualified experts
in the industry to develop the standards as follows.
Mission Statement
It is the expressed intent of the Optical Industry Association
and its Lens Processing Technology Division to establish
a standard system of data communication that provides for
compatibility in the inter-connection of lens processing
equipment. This system will enhance buyer confidence in
the equipment and improve the quality and performance of
lens processing systems in our customer's shops and laboratories.
The standards will be supported through participation of
the members and will be promoted by the Optical Industry
Association to users of lens processing equipment.
From this effort, the Optical Industry
Association published in 1996 version 1.0 of the Standard
for Device Communications This standard specifies a cable
and connector to link equipment and computers and a communication
protocol. The initial version has now been updated and re-issued
under version 3.0. We will review and update this standard
as needed to reflect technological advances and the lessons
we learn through use of the standard.
Optical Industry Association members
agree to support these voluntary standards through participation
in their use. Use of the standards is not restricted to
members of the Association and others are encouraged to
use them. The present standards were reviewed and approved
by the OMA members with the belief that these standards
fulfill the mission and will serve the industry well in
the years ahead.
How are operators trained?
Installation and training is included with purchase (within
the continental United States) and can be tailored to newcomers
within the industry or highly experienced personnel.
Are cabinets available?
Cabinets for our edgers or generator can be purchased for
all equipment. In the event that you have existing countertops
or cabinets, a benchtop diagram can be provided to determine
if you have the appropriate benchtop space.
Does the equipment
come with a warranty?
All new equipment comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty.
How can I see
a machine?
Telephone and site references within your area are available
upon request. The equipment is also exhibited at tradeshows
throughout the United States.
Can I trial the
equipment?
Please contact us if you are interested in looking at our
equipment on a trial or 30-day money back basis. Email: nopsales2@nationaloptronics.com
or call toll-free (800) 247-9796 or (866) 379-2020.
What if I have
questions after the installation of my equipment?
Just call our technical service department,
and they will assist you and answer any questions you may
have. Optronics is known for the highest standard of service
in the industry.
What are the electrical
requirements of the 7E Edger?
115 VAC 60 Hz 20A Electrical Supply. This is standard outlet
power in the United States. The Optronics 7E
Patternless Edger System should be on a dedicated circuit
(no other electrical loads connected to the same circuit)
to ensure a uniform, consistent power supply.
What is the time
frame for delivery after placing an order?
Typical lead-time is 4-6 weeks. Requests for special arrangements
are accommodated when possible.
Is used equipment
available?
The Horizon II and Horizon III edgers
are available as reconditioned units. From time to time, Vista
generators are also available as such. Demo units or show
models of the 7E and 2G
can also be arranged. Availability is limited and is "first
come, first serve". Pricing is dependent upon the age
and condition of the equipment.
Do you accept
trade-ins?
We readily accept any NOP equipment on trade.
Do you offer financing?
We offer lease programs from several
different nationally known companies and can provide lease
quotes upon request.
